"LARI  BIRD"
"Lari Bird" (a female House Sparrow) was rescued from a flash flood by some children and was named after their favorite Basketball Star.    We received her a week later.
They had taken very good care of her.     But she had injuries under both wings and injuries to both feet.     She has recovered well, eats like a horse loves to spend her time with humans at the computer.    While she isn't heavy enough to type like the Starlings,  she does manage to be sitting on the key that you need at any given moment.
When younger, Lari would latch on to the feeding stick and hover in-flight till the stick was cleaned off.

Update:  Lari is over one year old now and is doing very well.  She loves all the bigger birds and spends a lot of time with them as well as us.    Lari & the flock were joined by another female House Sparrow May 19, 2003.   Her name is “Itty Bitty”

Itty-Bitty was found under a canopy at a refreshment stand.  The nest was back inside a pipe with bolts blocking any hopes of returning her to the nest.    She had also suffered severe bruising from the fall to the asphalt and was bleeding internally so she was brought home to die in a warm place.

Remarkably, Itty-Bitty had a healthy appetite and after about a day the swelling went down and she began to heal very quickly and at four days she was growing fast and her feathers were looking good.

One week later Itty-Bitty is nearly assembled and getting ready for flight training.  One week later she made her maiden flight and hasn't quit since.

At 17 days, she knows her name and will come when called.

24 days old and Itty-Bitty has settled in and taken over the kingdom.
